Graham Cracker Caramel Apple Bites
Yield: 4 covered apples – about 8 servings
Apples are always seasonal staple come September. The endless varieties allow them to be incorporated in almost any meal. This time, they’ll be used for a twist on a classic favorite!
4 medium apples
1 bag of caramel candies
2 tablespoons milk or cream
1 package Graham crackers
Unwrap each of the caramel candies and place into a bowl. (If the kids want to help, this is a great task to keep them busy for a few minutes).
Measure either milk or cream and pour into the bowl of unwrapped caramels. Set aside.
Before melting, core and slice the apples into even-sized wedges. (2-in-1 apple corers work well)
Once the apples are sliced, pat each wedge dry with paper towels until both sides are dry to the touch. (This helps to keep the caramel on the apple). Set aside until the caramel is melted.
Next, open the package of Graham crackers, place into a sealable bag and crush until they reach a coarse crumb. Place onto a plate for easy coating.
Microwave the caramel and cream in increments of 20-30 seconds, until the caramel is fully melted. Stir until well blended.
One at a time, dip half of each apple wedge into the caramel so it’s coated on all sides. Let any excess caramel drip off.
Coat each slice with Graham cracker crumbs until the caramel is completely covered.
Place each of the apple bites onto a lightly-greased cookie sheet covered with wax paper; and put into the fridge to cool for at least 1 hour.
